Frequently asked questions
Is the pay shown the in-hand salary?
No. It is the pay level or basic pay printed in the notice. Dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances are added on top, and they depend on the city and the rules of the employer.
What does 'Level 6' mean?
Central government posts are placed on levels of the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix. Level 6, for example, starts at a basic pay of ₹35,400.
