- Age is counted on 1 August 2026, the date printed in the notice.
- An age band “A–B years” follows the notice's wording “not less than A and not more than B”: you must have completed A years on the counting date and must not have completed B years (if your B-th birthday falls on the counting date you are over the limit). This is exactly the birth-date window the notices print, and where a notice prints the window it is used as printed (both dates included).
- Upper-age relaxation is applied only as printed in the notice's relaxation table. It raises the upper limit only; it never lowers the minimum age. Where a relaxation depends on conditions (for example military service or reserved posts), the result is “Manual review required”.
