UPSC ESE परीक्षा में 3 चरण/पेपर हैं, आधिकारिक अधिसूचना (प्रकाशित 16 सितंबर 2026) के अनुसार। हर चरण के विषय, प्रश्न और अंक नीचे दिए गए हैं।
परीक्षा पैटर्न
- Stage-I: Preliminary examination (two objective papers, 500 marks)
- Stage-II: Main examination (two conventional papers, 600 marks)
- Stage-III: Personality Test (200 marks)
- Medical examination of finally recommended candidates
चरण: Stage-I: Preliminary (objective)
समय (अधिसूचना के अनुसार): 5 hours in all (Paper I 2 hours; Paper II 3 hours)

टिप्पणी (अधिसूचना के अनुसार): Negative marking: one-third (1/3) of the marks of a question for each wrong answer; more than one answer counts as wrong; no penalty for a blank. Answered on an OMR sheet with a black ball pen. Calculators are not allowed in objective papers.
